She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Vela Jr., her parents and 8 siblings; grandson, Miguel Vela; and great-granddaughter, Vanessa Vela.
She is survived by her children: Guadalupe Vela and his wife Diana; Raymundo C. Vela and his wife Blanca; Roberto Vela and his wife Mary Ann; and Silvia Martinez and her husband Gilbert. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great- great- grandchildren and her sister Sostenes. She was a member, for many years, of Las Guadalupanas.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Zoeller Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
