Evelyn Moore Hunsberger

Evelyn Moore Hunsberger, age 86, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. She was hospitalized from a fall at her home in New Braunfels and was unable to recover from the injury.

Evelyn was born in Mason, Texas, on February 24, 1930, the second child of Thornton and Betty Thompson. She lived her entire life in the central Texas area, with over sixty years living in New Braunfels. She was always active in the community including years as a hospital volunteer. Evelyn was an accomplished painter and very much enjoyed her weekly painting classes with friends. She was a sensational cook and gardener and lived her life to the fullest.

She was blessed for the past twenty six years to be married to John Hunsberger, a transplanted Virginian with unconditional love for Evelyn. They travelled the world and enjoy each other’s company for many years. Their relationship was the glue for the family and for that we are very much thankful.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, John Hunsberger, of New Braunfels; her children from her first marriage; Michael Moore, of Wimberley; Dr. Alan Moore and his spouse, Lynn Carter, of Austin; and Elizabeth Vinson and her spouse, Mark, of San Antonio; her six grandchildren, Justin, Scott, Morgan, and Matthew Moore, Megan Vinson Fiegl, and Katlyn Vinson. She is also survived by her sister, Ms. Paulette Clyne and her spouse, Carl, of Boerne; by her stepchildren: Karen Johnson, and her spouse, Val, of Georgetown, Texas, and Jerry, John, and Steve Hunsberger of Manassas, Virginia, as well as several step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents and her son, Terry Moore.

Services at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish in New Braunfels at 1:00 PM Friday, September 9th.
