Gayle Leah Morris

Gayle was born on November 23, 1936, in Springfield, Missouri, to Hadley and Audrey Morris. She attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Gayle worked for many years in apartment, bank and retail management. She loved her work helping other women through Hands of Hope and the Hays County Women’s Shelter. She enjoyed church activities, Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. Gayle also enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher for the SMCISD. Gayle was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed spending quality time with her many close friends. Gayle was one of those people who never met a stranger.

Gayle is preceded in death by her parents; her younger brother Robert Morris and her daughter Robin Mergler. She is also preceded in death by grandson Christopher Hamann and granddaughter Caroline Hamann. She is survived by daughter Leah Hamann of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Christina Tureaud and her husband Christopher Tureaud of San Marcos, Texas; and son Ray Redick and his wife Debbie Redick, of Des Moines, Washington. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her favorite granddog, Jenny.

Gayle’s family would like to especially thank Dr Demetrius Loukas and his wonderful staff at Texas Oncology – Midtown in Austin, Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
