

George W. Bunting entered the nearer presence of God on Sunday 26, 2017. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on November 4, 1935. He enlisted in the USAF in 1954 and served honorably for twenty plus years as a firefighter and in data processing.
Upon retirement from military service he was employed by the City of San Antonio’s Data Processing Department. He also worked for both Flour Bluff ISD and Comal ISD. He enjoyed model railroading and fixing antique clocks. There was not an object or device that George would not try to fix or a least have a hand in repairing.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Judy Roque Bunting and her son, Christopher Roque. George’s children include; Lynda Fey and husband, Joe, Kelley Hughes and husband, Russell, Stephanie Nichols and husband, Billy, Steven Haas and wife, Sheri, all of New Braunfels and Bill Bunting of Florida and Matthew Bunting and wife, Trish of Cibolo. Step-children include Fran Thompson and Robyn Gehle of Corpus Christi, Shelley George and husband, Charlie of Canyon Lake, Ranee Ruggles and husband, Tracy of Austin.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was the youngest of five brothers, Rich, Frank, Ronald, Earl, who all served their country during World War II and one baby sister, Bernice, all of New Jersey.
He was a proud Life Member of the American Legion and “The Bamboo Squadron”. He passionately volunteered to drive the “Vet Van” thus enabling veterans to attend their medical appointments at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in the 1990’s and 2000’s
Visitation will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church of New Braunfels on Thursday, November 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m. and officiated by Father Ripp Hardaway. Graveside Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio and officiated by Father Christopher Roque at a later date.
