George proudly served his country with one tour in Vietnam after he joined the Army out of high school in 1964.
After his military service, he served the Comal County Sheriff Department, along with the Kyle Police Department where he earned an Distinguished Service Award from the American Police Officer Hall of Fame for saving a man's life.
George was known by friends and family as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather with a willingness to always make everyone smile and/or laugh.
His courage and devotion to his faith and family never wavered.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 21 years, Ninfa; their dear children, Melissa and Amy; grandchildren Alessandro and Sofia; and sister Gloria Pacheco and brothers Abraham and Jimmy Gonzales.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 7, at 9 a.m. with a rosary and mass following at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels. Internment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be private family only at a later date.
