Gloria V. Benavides gained her wings on September 10, 2025 at the age of 86. Gloria was born April 8th, 1939 in New Braunfels, Texas to Her parents Juan Vargas and Cirilda S. Rodriguez Vargas. It was in New Braunfels that Gloria would not only begin her life and spend her days, but also grow her own family with the love of her life Manuel Benavides.
Gloria was an incredible woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, dancing, riding through Landa Park and exploring yard sales. She especially loved Halloween, telling scary stories that delighted and spooked those around her. Gloria was a hard worker who worked at the Mission Valley Mill until they closed their doors in the late 90’s She was the matriarch of our family who will truly miss her and feel the presence of her absence.
Gloria is welcomed in heaven by her soulmate and beloved husband, Manuel J. Benavides, her father and mother, her children; John Joseph (Joey) Moreno, Antonia Alvarez, siblings; Abel Vargas, Ascension Vargas, and Juanita Gonzalez. Step sister, Gloria Gonzalez and great grandchild, Valentina Rodriguez.
Gloria is survived by her daughters: Guadalupe and husband Paul Caballero, Maria Teresa and husband Ysidro Carrizales, Sativa Mata, and Marcia and husband Jose Munoz. Siblings; Juan Vargas (Maria Christina), Cruz Gonzalez, along with many loving nieces, nephews and her Grandchildren; JoAnn, Paula, Simon, Luis, Robert, Ysidro, Nicholas, Michael, Rodney, Sonia, John, Bobby, Miranda, Kathy, Armando, Rogelio, Sergio, Nicole, Naomi, Erika, Jesus, Jesse, Jessica, Cynthia and Juan, 65 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
Public visitation for Gloria will be held 5:00 PM Sunday September 28, 2025 at Zoeller Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 am Monday, September 29, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 245 S. Hildalgo Ave., New Braunfels, Texas 78130. Burial will follow in Comal Cemetery, 301 Peace Ave. New Braunfels, Texas. 78130
