Henry S. Muñoz, of New Braunfels, Texas passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023 in San Antonio at the age of 84 years. He was born to Jose Muñoz and Angelita Saenz Muñoz in New Braunfels, Texas on May 26, 1939.
Henry, known as “Chiquillo” to most of his family and friends, was always small in stature but remembered for his big personality. Henry was a strong and avid athlete, playing softball and baseball for local city leagues, high school baseball and football for New Braunfels High School. As an adult, he enjoyed many years bowling on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights alongside his wife of 49 years, Juanita Muñoz. As a young man, Henry joined the Air Force Reserve where he flew for the first and last time, realizing he was not meant to be in the air. For the rest of the his life, he drove everywhere, including cross country family trips that ended up taking days instead of hours; he referred to it as “taking the scenic route”. It was during his time in the Air Force Reserve where he learned his trade to became a machinist. He worked as a machinist for various companies until he retired at the age of 76 from Taprite Inc. When he wasn’t working, he loved watching the Cowboys and sharing his story of attending a game, scratching lotto tickets and of course, a cold beer. In his later years, Henry liked to debate (argue) with his daughter and nursing staff, but was always joking around, even until the very end. Henry was most proud of his football career, work ethic and his family he helped raise. He was the proud grandfather of Ali, Anthony and Sandra, Anna Moore’s children and later, of Illiana, Henrietta Muñoz’s daughter. He has six great grandchildren; Alirik Villarreal, Alivia Villarreal, Alina Villarreal, Arwyn Ayala, Obinna Ihemelu and Isabella Ihemelu. Chiquillo will always be remembered for his big personality, love for his Cowboys and the family he raised. He will live in our hearts forever.
