Enrique “Henry” Munoz Enrique Valdez Munoz of New Braunfels, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital at the age of 92. He is survived by his two children, son, Joel C. Munoz; daughter, Sonia and husband Jeff Gill; grandchildren, Jose-Enrique (Kiko) Munoz, Felicity, twins: Isabella and Josh Gill; brothers, David and Medardo Munoz; sisters, Lydia Rodriguez, Becky Everette, Annie Archuleta and Magdalena Nelson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Felicitas Campos Munoz and some of his siblings: Teresa Suarez, Raul V. Munoz and Paula Gaitan. Henry was son to Medardo and Maria “Cuca” Munoz. He was one of 13. Family and extended family were very important to him. He felt it was very important to make effort to take care of them in any way possible. Son of a Presbyterian pastor/evangelist, Medardo Munoz Sr., the Triune God and Scripture were powers that strongly led all his life but more so in his latter years. The First Presbyterian Church of New Braunfels he attended and was a member of was the blessing God created through the early work of his faithful father. As a country boy and veteran of Wold War II, he was proud of his bronze star that was awarded to him for his service in the European theater under General George Patton. As a continuation of his love for his country and brothers-in-arms, he became a lifetime member in various organizations like Disable American Veterans (DAV) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). His community also benefited from his altruism and participation. As a member of Union Funebre de Padres Familiares, GI Forum and LULAC, he extended that same generous and caring spirit to his community. His work years were just as fruitful. He retired from civil service work at Kelly AFB after 20 years. During that time he also managed his father-in-laws family business, El Monterrey Café, for a couple of years. The business venture made him well known and respected within the community. In his youth, he loved the outdoors. He would try any and every type of hunting and fishing known to man with his favorite friends. Not only were there lots of fish (or hunting) stories told but they were also told over a large meal from that recent trip. As his friends passed away, he continued the hunting/fishing traditions with their sons. His family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who has contacted us with their care and prayers during this time. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such expressive and compassionate relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 5 pm Monday, October 8, 2012 at Zoeller Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 pm Monday evening. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at 9 am at the First Presbyterian Church of New Braunfels followed by a service at 10 am at the church with burial to follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of New Braunfels.

I met Mr. Munoz three years ago in September and cared for him in his home. I visited him every three weeks and always looked forward to seeing him sitting on his porch awaiting my arrival. He is truly a sweet blessing and one that I will never forget. I am honored to have been his VA nurse. He will be greatly missed.

Sonia and the entire Munoz and Gill families: Please remember the long, long time that you had him, and be thankful for that. Sonia, I know that he must have been very proud of you and all of your accomplishments. May the angels in Heaven joyfully receive him at his coming and may he have eternal rest and peace.

I was sadden to hear of Henry's passing. I had stopped by, while he was sitting on the porch, a couple of times to ask questions of early times in NB. He was always so willing to share his thoughts and memories. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.
