Irma Y. Collazo, age 83, passed away Saturday, December 29th in New Braunfels, Texas. Mrs. Collazo was preceded in death by her husband, Uvaldo F. Collazo, and one daughter, Esperanza D. Dorfmeister, also of New Braunfels, Texas.
A loving wife and devoted mother, she was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and former volunteer worker at the Comal Children’s Shelter. An avid gardener, Mrs. Collazo’s yard was filled with a lifetime of various plants and flowers she lovingly attended.
Originally from San Antonio, Mrs. Collazo spent most of her early adult life accompanying her husband throughout his Air Force career in postings ranging from Turkey to Germany to Paris and Utah to Nebraska. The family came home to settle in New Braunfels in the early 70’s where they raised four children and several grandchildren who they dearly loved.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Faustino G. and Denise Collazo of New Braunfels; daughter, Linda A. Thompson of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Esmeralda M. and Lee Flowers of Rusk, Texas and son-in-law, David Dorfmeister of New Braunfels; numerous brothers and sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Collazo will be held Thursday, January 3rd at 1pm at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels with a Rosary service at 3pm. Friday January 4th, the funeral procession will depart from Zoeller Funeral home at 9:40am for a 10am Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Braunfels, Texas with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in San Antonio, Texas.
