Jack D. Knight, age 97, went home to be with the love of his life on April 26, 2018. Jack was born in San Benito, Texas on May 26, 1920 to Daisy and Thomas C. Knight. He grew up with seven brothers and sisters and graduated from San Benito High School in 1938. He married, the love of his life, Agnes Howell on March 29, 1941. They were married for 73 years before she passed away in February 2015. Jack served in the Army 36th Division during WWII. He then worked for Mobil Oil for 32 years before retiring to New Braunfels, TX in 1981. He became involved in the Noon Lions Club and wore his yellow Lions Club hat until the day he died. Jack loved to run his errands around town so he could flirt with his “girlfriends” at the bank and visit with his buddies at their offices.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and all his siblings: Ora Van Haltren, Vetrus Knight, Gail Rhine, Thomas C. Knight Jr., Brownlee Knight, Audrey Chaffin, and Judy Dunbar. He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Knight Kunkel (Larry); granddaughter, Tammy Pfeuffer (David), and great granddaughters, Erika and Emma Pfeuffer; step-grandson, Jeff Kunkel (Terri) and their children Julia and Garrett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Eden Home for all of their care and love for Mr. Jack. He was the official greeter at Eden Hill and many have expressed they will miss seeing him.
Graveside Service will be at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park at 10:00 am Monday, April 30, 2018. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas or to a charity of one’s choice.
