Born on April 29, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, to Arthur and Nada (Fox) Haubert, James lived a life marked by devotion, intellect, and an adventurous spirit. On May 21, 2016, he married the love of his life, Mayra Worthen, and together they shared nine beautiful years filled with laughter, partnership, and unwavering love. On their wedding day, James promised not only that he would die for her but, more importantly, that he would live for her - a promise he kept faithfully every day of their life together.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Mayra; his stepson Jeffrey Worthen and daughter-in-law Kristin, and grandchildren Harper, Judah, and Theodore of Louisville, Kentucky; his stepdaughter Marissa Garcia of Missouri City, Texas; and his sister Diana Bell of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Haubert and Nada Fox Haubert.
James earned a master’s degree in Physiology from the University of Colorado, where he attended on full gymnastics scholarship. He went on to receive a Master of Business Administration from the University of Portland and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado. James enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a software and computer development engineer before his retirement.
James honorably served his country in the United States Navy, where he worked intelligence alongside the Navy Seal community. His service was a source of great pride and shaped the values he lived by - commitment to duty, love of country, and devotion to family. He will be remembered not only for his military service, but for the way he lived each day with honor and purpose.
In his youth, James was an accomplished athlete, excelling in gymnastics, golf, snow and water skiing, mountain climbing, and running. Known affectionately by his hunting buddies as “Q Ball,” he had a deep love for the outdoors, hunting, and skeet shooting. James also enjoyed cycling, traveling, and had a lifelong passion for music.
With his sharp mind, adventurous spirit, and effortless charm, those who knew him often joked that he was a real-life James Bond - graceful under pressure, impeccably composed, and always ready for the next adventure.
Friends and family will remember James most for his great sense of humor, generous heart, and unwavering love for Jesus, his family, and his country.
