Specialist 5 (SP5) Jimmie G. Zamora, 76, United States Army, lifelong resident of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2026. After long courageous health battles related to agent orange.
Born on June 10, 1949 in New Braunfels, Texas, the eldest of five children to Juan and Olivia Zamora. He graduated from New Braunfels High School, then before he could be drafted, Jimmie enlisted and served with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of recognition, awards 201s Bars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He was a dedicated member of the VFW and VA, American Legion.
After returning from service Jimmie built a life dedicated to family. Jimmie married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Linda Villarreal on May 19, 1979. He was also a proud father and grandfather to his only child, son, Mark, and granddaughter Livvy. He worked for over 20 years in Austin, Texas with Houston instruments later known as Summagraphics. Before ending his work career with Ikon Office Solutions in San Antonio. He was also known for his love of old classic cars, fixing things, attending his son‘s basketball games, and his unwavering camaraderie with his fellow veterans.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda V. Zamora, his parents, Juan and Olivia Zamora, his in-laws, Joe and Mary Villarreal, Godson, Joe Arevalo and numerous uncles and aunts.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Mark Zamora and wife Leslie, his granddaughter Livvy, three step grandchildren, Morgan, Reese, and Beckham, Sister, Elvia Zamot, Cynthia, Cantu and husband, Rudy, Brother, Fabian Zamora and Wife, Rachel, Sister Elsa Garza and Husband Mark, uncle Luis Zamora, aunts, Anita Lucas, Celia Villalobos, and numerous cousins nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home 5:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2026 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM. A Committal Service with full military honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the VFW Post 7110 of New Braunfels in his memory .
