

Joan Estelle Broughton, 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on September 28, 2015. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 16, 1932 to Edward & Janet Ettel. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hart.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Weldon W. Broughton; her brother, Edward Ettel (Mary) of Marietta, Georgia; and her children: Sandra Clopton (Robert) of Lockhart, Mike Broughton (Mary Kay) of Mission, and Ken Broughton (Ginger) of Cuero.
Joan spent her early life in Corpus Christi and married Weldon W. Broughton on January 21, 1952. Joan and Weldon moved to Mission in 1965, where they made their home until retiring to New Braunfels in 1985. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a longtime volunteer with the Junior Service League of Mission, Texas. Her hobbies were playing bridge, painting, cooking, sewing and needle work.
Grandchildren include Tracy Pavlu (Preston), Robbie Clopton, Heather Marks (Jared), Jason Broughton, Parker Broughton, Claire Broughton, Emily-Ann Patterson, and Jewellea Patterson; great-grandchildren Carter Pavlu, Payton Pavlu, and Beau Marks, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joan loved traveling and cruises, tending a good campfire, and black licorice, but most especially loved her family.
