John Lee Nehring

The rock of our family, John Lee Nehring, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died October 24, 2014 at his home in New Braunfels, TX amongst love ones. He was the incredible age of 99. John was born June 21, 1915 in Cleburne, TX to Charles and Bertha Nehring. He was baptized on September 3, 1916 in Cleburne, TX and confirmed on June 8, 1930 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Taylor, TX. He had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He grew up in Taylor, TX and graduated from Taylor Highschool in 1937.

In 1943 on December 5, John married the love of his life, Dorothy. They celebrated their 70th anniversary last year. They had a son and a daughter. John worked for Hughes Tool Company in Houston, TX where he retired in 1980. In 1982 they moved to New Braunfels, TX where they have lived since. John enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with Dorothy.

John leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy Nehring; son Keith Nehring and wife Lynn of Houston, TX; daughter Laura Robinson of New Braunfels, TX; grandsons David Cochran and wife Heather of New Braunfels, TX and John Nehring II of La Grange, TX; granddaughters Jill White and husband Todd of New Braunfels, TX and Kristin Stephenson and husband Dustin of Kansas City, KS; great-grandchildren Tirk White and Allison and Davan Cochran; and sister Alice Krueger of Willis, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha Nehring and siblings, Annie Krueger, Walter Nehring, Lillie Wade, Bill Nehring, Edwin Nehring and Leroy Nehring.

The viewing will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa, New Braunfels, TX. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1:00pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 181 Santa Clara, New Braunfels, TX. Memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
