Julian Castilleja Jr., passed into the arms of our Lord while surrounded by his wife, sons, granddaughters, and family at home on March 29th, 2019. Julian was born to Julian and Socorro Castilleja on October 24th 1944. Together he and his wife of 49 years, Raquel Delgado Castilleja, had two sons. Julian served four years as a Sgt. in the United States Air Force. During his work life he was self-employed DBA Julian’s Floor Service for 48 years. During his life he played with the Azteca’s baseball team and managed the Braves softball team. He enjoyed watching all sports in his free time as well as attending games. He devoted his life to protecting and providing for his family and serving God. He loved having family gatherings and had a very generous heart. Traveling with his family and planting flowers were his favorite past time. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Julian touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Raquel Delgado; sons, Christopher Ray Castilleja and wife Sylvia Castilleja; and Julian Castilleja, III and Julia Thompson; grandchildren, Bryana Nicole Castilleja, Brooke Ashley Castilleja, Julian Castilleja IV, Kataryna Vivian Castilleja, Juliette Thompson-Castilleja; and great-granddaughter, Delainee Lorena Ortega; sisters, Carmen Cardenas, Guadalupe Torres, and Oralia Castilleja; brothers, Jesus Castilleja and wife Lucy, Rodolfo Castilleja and wife Rita; and numerous nephews and nieces. Julian was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Angelita Lozano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 8th, 2019 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels, followed by viewing and visitation at 4:00 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home continuing until 9:00 pm. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Zoeller Funeral Home at 11:00 am and continue until 12:15 pm when the service departs in precession to Fort Sam Houston. A Committal Service will be held at 1:15 pm, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered and services will conclude. Pallbearers are godsons, Oscar Padilla, Ryan Cardenas, Matthew Cardenas, and Jacob Delgado. Additional pallbearers include Albert Moreno III and Mark Lopez. Honorary pallbearer, Julian Castilleja IV.
