Kathleen Reid Turk

Kathleen Reid Turk was born Feb 16, 1926 in Deweyville, TX. She was raised in the country in Reids, LA - named for her family. This was near her grandparents. Her grandmother became like a mother to her after Kathleen’s mother passed away when she was only 18. Kathleen had one younger sister and an older brother. She loved to play piano and for many years was the church pianist at her Baptist church, where she said she liked to add some embellishment and “jazz it up” a little. She attended church faithfully, and especially enjoyed the singing conventions, where attendees came from surrounding areas. She was also close to her “aunts” in Sugartown, LA (Lou and Margie) who were actually very close in age to her and were more like sisters.

Kathleen later moved to Texas, where she married Billy Gene Turk and had two daughters. Her faith always sustained her, wherever she went. Her strong faith in God gave her the strength to weather the many storms of life. Even when she went completely blind in her 80s, she said God still had a reason for her being here, and when it was the right time he would take her home.

On April 11, 2022 Kathleen Reid Turk, age 96, went home to the Lord whom she had faithfully served and relied upon. Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sharon and Deborah and their husbands. She will also be missed by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, sister and her husband, Bill Turk.

A public visitation for Kathleen will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A burial service will occur Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 TX Hwy 46, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
