Kermit Vetter

Kermit Vetter was born in New Braunfels, Texas on October 7, 1939. He was the son of Henry and Irma Jentsch Vetter. As a young boy, Kermit enjoyed hunting with his brothers and helping his family around the farm. He graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1958. After graduation, Kermit joined the Army where he learned mechanics until he was medically discharged. At Gruene Hall, he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Jonas. They shared a wonderful life for 34 years until her passing. In their time together, Kermit and Shirley shared three children, Sandra, Randall, and Amanda. Kermit provided for his family with a long career with Eastern Airlines and serving many years in Comal County law enforcement. He was a member of Triumphant Lutheran Church and previously with the Garden Ridge Lions Club.

Kermit enjoyed being outside, whether it was hunting with his son, camping, farming, or piddling with machines. After retirement, he rebuilt 4 tractors, one in memory of his son, Randy, and three in honor of his grandchildren that he drove with them in the Comal County Fair Parade. Kermit enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball, volleyball and soccer. He was beyond proud when they all graduated and were beginning their adult lives.

On Monday, July 20, Kermit peacefully passed away, and now rests in paradise with his Savior. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley; his son, Randy Vetter; his parents, Henry and Irma Vetter; his sister, Joyce Lucas; his parents-in-law, Peter and Lola Jonas; his sisters-in-law, Laverne Anton and Virginia Vetter; brother-in-law Walter Anton; and niece, Donna Vetter.

Kermit is survived by his daughters Sandy Vetter of San Antonio and Amanda (Jason) Henderson of Cibolo; daughter-in-law Cynthia Vetter of Austin; three grandchildren Robert (Logan) Vetter, Jessica Henderson and Andrew Henderson; brothers Jerome Vetter and Ralph (Cindy) Vetter; brother-in-law Michael Lucas and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23 from 5-7pm at Zoeller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 24 at 10am at Zoeller Funeral Home and interment in Comal Cemetery.
