As a child, she would climb trees to get away to read and eat vegetables out of her mother's garden. She especially enjoyed peas, rhubarb and choke cherries. When she was 9, she and her family moved to the Rio Grande Valley, where she grew up and met and eventually married David Sadler. They had 2 children, George and Stephanie. She loved to make people smile. If you weren't smiling, she'd persistently pester you until a grin tried to break through your tough exterior. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies through the years, Bush Electric in Harlingen; Armstrong Plumbing, RailTex which became RailAmerica, then Retama Park and Clear Channel in San Antonio. She and David opened their home and hearts to 22 foster children over 13 years, ending when she suffered a stroke, leaving her with balance issues. She went on to work at Albert Distributing, and FIS in San Antonio, before deciding she needed to return to caring for others by working in the kitchen at New Life Children's Center in Canyon Lake. She was victorious in her battle over breast cancer, celebrating 6 years cancer free. She enjoyed RV camping with family. She recently revisited her family in North Dakota, some she hadn't seen in 30 years. While there, she rediscovered her love of kuchen, introducing it to her friends and family when she returned home. When she wasn't running around the countryside, enjoying the many parks, she read her books during commercials while watching game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy at home.
She is survived by husband, David A. Sadler; son George William Sadler; daughter, Stephanie Sadler; sister, Eileen Pfau Adams and husband Pat; children, Mike and Jeff Adams; sister, Donna Pfau Black and husband Bob; children, Danny and Donnie Johnson; niece, Jennifer Boland. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Irene Pfau Dennis; infant brother, Ernest Pfau.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Zoeller Funeral Home with Chaplain Darwin Huartson officiating.
