Lorine Katie Miller

Lorine was born on July 31, 1934 to Eddie and Elsie Meckel in Twin Sisters, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 44 years Roy Miller Jr. She is survived by her daughter Denise Ortez and husband Don; grandsons Eric Ortez and wife Amy of New Braunfels and Ryan Ortez and wife Abigail of Baltimore, Maryland along with great grandsons William Ortez and Nolan Ortez; brother Willie Meckel and wife Isabell.

Lorine attended one-room school houses at Curry Creek and Twin Sisters until the family moved to New Braunfels where she attended New Braunfels High School and graduated in 1952. In high school she was active in volleyball and choir. While in high school, Lorine won an international bookkeeping contest where her paper was one of 300 contest papers selected from more than 10,000 entries. She married the love of her life Roy Miller Jr. on February 20, 1954 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed many years together until Roy’s passing in 1998.

Lorine enjoyed 9 pin bowling at Mission Valley Bowling Club and later 10 pin league bowling at Comal Bowl and even traveled out of state to bowl in a few tournaments. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, hunting and playing Bunco every week at the Senior Citizens Center. Lorine was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and was a member of Catholic Daughters and the bereavement committee and also volunteered at the church thrift store.

The family would like to send a special thank you to EdenHill and EdenHill Hospice staff for the extraordinary care and kindness they gave to Lorine during her stay.

Visitation will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 5 PM to 8 PM with a rosary at 7PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 10 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. There will be a reception immediately following the mass at St. Mary’s Hall. A private burial will take place at a later date.
