

Born on April 5th 1942, in Waco, Texas to Una Fortune Shumate and Clyde Shumate, her life was full of family, friends, and so much love. Lynda’s parents were active members as a Mason and an Eastern Star. Lynda was initiated into the Rainbow Girls as a teenager in Waco, Texas, and then initiated into the New Braunfels Eastern Star Chapter # 771 on October 21, 1974. She was an active member for 51 years. Following a career in secretarial work in the County and District Attorney's offices, and about 22 years at APG Lime, she retired in April 2010 to relax and spend more time with her family.
Lynda was known for her generosity and love for her family, as well as her collection of miniature mice. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, talking, laughing, and playing games. Lynda loved to see her grandchildren smile, and took every opportunity to spoil them with treats, games, and toys.
She is survived by her sister, Nora Walters Cook, daughter, Cindy Maskal, son, Bryan Carr, grandchildren, Lisa Maskal and husband Colton, Sarah Maskal, Alan Carr, and Opal Carr, nieces and nephews, Jerry Shumate and wife Tina, Jason Shumate and wife Sarah, Tina Hitchens and husband Robert, Todd Grantham, and Tiffany Johnson, 5 great grandchildren and many great nieces and nephews who all loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Royce Shumate.
