

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret L. Stegemeyer. Margaret departed this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 87. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering love leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on June 18, 1938, in Chelmsford, Essex, England, Margaret was the eldest of three children born to Norman and Ellen May Bond. She carried her English heritage with grace and warmth throughout her life. Margaret's journey led her across the Atlantic, where she built a beautiful life and family. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 30 years, Ray C. Stegemeyer, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories and unwavering partnership.
Prior to making her home in New Braunfels, Margaret resided in San Antonio, where she served with dedication as a bus driver for the Northside Independent School District (NISD). Her kind demeanor and reliable presence made her a beloved figure to countless students before her well-deserved retirement. Upon moving to New Braunfels, Margaret quickly immersed herself in the community, becoming an active member of Cross Lutheran Church. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her generous volunteering at the school.
Beyond her professional and community contributions, Margaret embraced life with enthusiasm and a lively spirit. She was an avid bowler, finding immense joy and camaraderie on the lanes as a part of numerous leagues and organizations. Her infectious good humor, forged many lasting friendships. Her connection to her roots was also maintained through her long-standing involvement with the Transatlantic Brides & Parents Association (TBPA), a community that provided fellowship and a poignant link to her English heritage. Margaret's remarkable ability to connect with people, coupled with her famously witty sense of humor, brightened every gathering and touched countless hearts.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. Margaret is survived by her youngest brother, Edward Bond, residing in England, and her three devoted children: Michael Lavers (Mina); Teresa Voges (Staton); and Jennifer Murillo. Her memory will also be deeply cherished by her six grandchildren: Michelle, Jeremy, Alexandria, Samantha, Brianna, and Victoria, as well as her nine adored great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous beloved family members and a wide circle of friends whose lives were made richer by her presence.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate team at Harmony Hospice for their exceptional care which brought comfort, joy, and peace to Margaret in her final days.

The service will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home, located at 615 Landa Street in New Braunfels, Texas 78130. We invite all who knew and loved Margaret to come and share their memories, honoring a woman whose light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
