Mary Irene Bukowski entered into eternal rest on January 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Mary was also known as "Tootsie" by her loved ones, earning her nickname as a child due to her love of Tootsie Rolls.
Mary was born on August 1, 1937, in San Antonio, Tx. She graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School, where she built a strong foundation of faith and education that guided her throughout her life. Mary was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels for the last 28 years.
Mary was deeply involved in her children’s lives and activities, always supporting them with love and encouragement. She was always there to lend a helping hand and offer guidance. Her family meant everything to her and was her greatest pride and joy.
Mary’s love for sewing and quilting was a big part of her life. Her sewing was not just a hobby but a way to share her love, leaving behind treasured pieces that will be cherished for generations. In addition to her passion for sewing, Mary enjoyed being part of a bowling team while living in Harlingen, where she formed friendships and memories.
Mary is survived by her loving family: son Alfred Jr. (Butch); daughter-in-law Debbie; daughter Karon DeBacker and husband Randy; son Walter (Gator) and wife Katy; daughter Carla Dyer and husband Roger; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Myrtle Kolodziej and brother Carl Story. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Bukowski Sr.; her son Michael; daughter-in-law Johnnie Kay; and her parents. Mary’s legacy lives on through her family.
Mary will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her love, strength, and devotion to her faith and family.
