Mary Newell Mc Cracken

Mary Elizabeth Newell McCracken lost her battle with liver cancer May 26, 2012 at their home in New Braunfels with her family at her side. She was born in Victoria, Texas on March 9, 1951 to Frances and Thomas I. Newell, Jr., and was the youngest of four children. She grew up loving plants, animals and all aspects of nature. Her friends and family marveled at her ability to grow just about any type of plant. She also loved music and the ocean and enjoyed swimming in the lake or in the many rivers of the Hill Country. Family was extremely important to her and she was strongly devoted to her parents and two sons.

Mary was a member of the Park Place Chapter #731 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Mary was predeceased by her father Thomas I. Newell, Jr., and her older brother Thomas I. Newell, III. Mary is survived by her mother Frances C. Newell-Stephenson; her two sons Kevin and Matthew McCracken; her sister, Cheryl Gumienny and husband David; brother Douglas Newell and wife Debbie; 8 nieces and nephews; and by her lifetime friend Julie Hardy and friend Margaret Reckaway; and by the love of her life, her granddaughter Mia McCracken.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Zoeller Funeral Home chapel. Services will conclude in the chapel.
