Mary Ann Sands

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Teska Neuse Georg. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Smith of Ellicott City, Maryland; sons, Scott Sands of San Antonio, and Brian Sands and wife Rocio of Allen, Texas.

Mary Ann grew up in New Braunfels and graduated from New Braunfels High School. She then went to work in Civil Service at Randolph Air Force Base for several years, married Robert Edward Sands and eventually settled in San Antonio.

Mary Ann volunteered at the children’s schools until they went to high school at which point she became an employee at Bradley Middle School. She was very well loved by all the students at the school and eventually moved to the district office for Northeast Independent School District, where she retired after a number of years. Her hobbies included playing bingo, reading, playing with her dachshunds and decorating for Christmas.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels. Services will be 1:30 PM Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Cross Lutheran Church in New Braunfels. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas: P.O. Box 293122, Kerrville, TX 78029 where she adopted several of her dachshunds.
