

Melford Edward Georg entered the heavenly gates to meet his Lord and Savior on July 29, 2024, at The Brooks of Cibolo. Visitation will be at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St., New Braunfels, TX on August 9, 2024, from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX on August 10, 2024, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels, TX at 1:00 pm.
Melford was born in the San Antonio Hospital on December 22, 1930, to Willie C. Georg and Elfrieda Schneider Georg. He lived his entire life in the Bracken community until moving to an Assisted Living facility located in Cibolo, TX in July 2022. Melford attended 1st through 10th grades at Davenport School. He then attended New Braunfels High School for grades 11 through 12 and graduated on May 27, 1949. He married Laverne Elvira Schneider Georg on April 24, 1954, with Pastor John Winter officiating at Perrin Beitel Lutheran Church in San Antonio. They had 2 children which they raised on their farm in Bracken. Melford did farming for many years alongside being a painter and then changed professions to auto mechanics until retirement.
Melford was a member of several organizations including Germania Farmer Verein (Anhalt), Bracken Volunteer Fire Department, Comal PTA, and the Comal County Farm Bureau serving in many capacities at each of these organizations. He and Laverne were members at several Lutheran churches and served the Lord in each congregation. While being a member at Triumphant Lutheran Church, it was here that he began to master the art of making the most tender, melt in the mouth barbeque brisket at the Octoberfest which the church held each fall. Currently, he and Laverne are members at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels. They helped with the Pew Pals to clean and organize hymnals and bibles in the pews. One of the last organizations he served was on the Board of Directors for the Wetmore Cemetery.
Melford was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Elfrieda Georg. Survivors include his wife, Laverne, of 70 years; his 2 children and their spouses, Janice Georg Jarrell (Rodney) of Carrollton, TX and Stanley Louis Georg (Susan) of San Antonio, TX; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Kirsten Jarrell Kennemer (Dustin) of Rockwall, TX, Mark Ryan Jarrell (Jennifer Jo) of Austin, TX, and Spencer Arron Georg (Caitlyn) of Seguin; 3 great-grandchildren, Grant Wesley Kennemer, Caroline Jane Kennemer, and Charlie Wade Jarrell. Other survivors include 2 nieces, Jeanelle Crisp and Diana Mills and a cousin, Clarine Syamken.
Memorials may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Braunfels, TX or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Freedom Hospice and the staff at The Brooks of Cibolo for all the love and care given.
