Michael lived a life deeply rooted in life’s simple pleasures. He was a master of growth and creation. His garden was a testament to his patience and care, filled with fresh vegetables that often found their way into the kitchens of family and friends. An extraordinary cook, Michael expressed his love through food, often sharing his creations at family gatherings.
Michael loved the water, and whenever possible, he could be found on his boat, finding peace and freedom in his adventures, and searching for the perfect spot to take in the sun and a cool breeze.
Michael also shared a profound connection with animals, offering a gentle heart and a welcoming home to many beloved pets throughout his lifetime. Admittedly, some of those pets adopted Michael first, gradually working their way into his heart and becoming cherished companions.
Michael inherited his father’s quick wit and wonderfully dry sense of humor—a quality that brought laughter and character to the moments he shared with those around him.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents. Dad, V.D. (Bud) Shockey Jr. and wife Grace; mom, Betty Pagliara and husband Joe; and brother Curtis Woolever.
Michael is survived by his wife Yuliya; his child Bence; brother Terry and wife Rose; his sisters Denise and husband Dieter; Melissa and husband Jose; Verline and husband Jamie; Mari; and Rebecca, wife of late brother Curtis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of life service will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels Texas at 11:00 am October 3, 2026.
