Norman Lehmann Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on January 13, 2025. He was born to Erwin Lehmann Sr. and Valeska Krueger Lehmann on September 20, 1933, in a farmhouse on Offerman Hill southwest of Staples, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Erwin Lehmann Sr. and Valeska Krueger Lehmann; brothers, Jerry Lee Lehmann, Larry Wayne Lehmann, Roman Lehmann, and Erwin Lehmann Jr.; Sister, Gladys Lehmann Jahnsen; Loving wife, Elsie Mae Behrendt Lehmann. He is survived by his brother, Lenard, and his wife, Patricia; his sisters, Alice Lehmann Wahl and Doreen Lehmann Henk; and many nieces and nephews.
He married Elsie Lehmann, his beloved wife of 65 years, on November 22, 1953. Together they had three children: Norman Lehmann Jr and his wife Pamela; Gerald Lehmann (Shorty) and his wife Irene; Elisa Van Dyke and her husband James. Norman had 8 grandchildren: Trey, Devin, Crystal, and husband Jimmy; Kendra and husband Kenneth; Kody, Kyle, Kelsey, and husband Chase; and Lauren and husband, James. His blessings continued when he welcomed ten amazing great-grandchildren, Zane, Kaitlyn, Madison, Emily, James-Wyatt, Colt, Kacie Mae, Hadley, Riggs, and Raelie.
Norman served in the Texas National Guard 36th Division Medics Unit. He worked in a rock quarry and then delivered propane gas for 14 years at Guadalupe Gas Company. Thereafter, he sold his herd of livestock and used the funds to buy his first semi-truck, which he used to be an independent gravel hauler until he retired. During retirement, he developed a large group of friends with whom he drank coffee routinely. He also spent endless hours on projects to help his family and friends. Norman had a close relationship with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their many activities. The great-grandchildren referred to him as “Old-Papaw,” for whom he always had “snack money”. In his later years, Norman and Elsie joined Eastside Baptist Church, where he made many more friends.
Services will be held Monday, January 20th, 2025, at Eastside Baptist Church beginning at 10 am, with visitation starting at 9 am. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Eastside Baptist Church.
