Raquel was born on March 28, 1949 in Crystal City, TX, to the late Jose and Maria Sevilla. She graduated from Harlandale High School in 1967 and went on to build a life defined by her faith, hard work, devotion to her family, and a deep love for those around her.
Raquel dedicated 17 years of service to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, her loyalty, and her determination in everything she did.
Above all, Raquel was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and, most recently, a great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy. She loved spending time with those she loved and could always be counted on to show up for them. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader, enthusiastically supporting them at their school events, sporting events, and extracurricular activities. Few things brought her more happiness than watching her grandchildren grow, succeed, and pursue the things they loved.
Raquel was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed cheering on her team so much so that her neighbors knew when the Cowboys were on TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Sevilla; her sisters, Lile Ximenez and Laura Pena; and her sister-in-law, Rosie Martinez Sevilla.
Raquel is survived by her children, Adriana (Frank) Sanchez of New Braunfels, Texas; Nydia (Ruben) Perez of New Braunfels, Texas; and Albert (Ivanna) Mendoza of Odem, Texas. She is also survived by her six beloved grandchildren, Lindsey Sanchez, Christian Perez, Aiden Sanchez, Joshua Perez, Elise Sanchez, and Dominik Mendoza; and her great-grandchild, Marisol Perez; three sisters, Anna (Joe) Cano, Beatriz Garcia, Olga (John) Salazar, two brothers, David (Rachel) Sevilla, Ramon Sevilla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raquel will be remembered for her strength, her work ethic, her love of family, and the pride she took in every accomplishment of those she loved. Her greatest legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and the many memories created with family throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
