away on September 30, 2023. Reva grew up on her family's farm with her parents Charles Edward Ray and Bertha Mae Phillips, her brother Ralph, and her sisters Fern, Thelma, and Ellen in Pea Green, Colorado. This is where her incredible work ethic, discipline, family values and gratitude for even the simplest things of life were instilled in her.
In her teen years at Olathe High School, Reva was the drum majorette. She was known for being very active and quite feisty. She was spotted around town going to picture shows and dances with her friends in her dad's 1939 Diamond T truck. Reva graduated from Olathe High School in 1953.
After graduation, Reva went to work at Arthur Murray Dance Studios. It was then that she caught Cliff Brasuell's eye. It was love at first sight and led to many dates dancing the night away. The two were married on July 4, 1956. They always thought it was funny that when everyone else was celebrating independence, they were celebrating a union. It was then that they began their family. Boy, did they ever?! Cliff and Reva had 9 children in 16 years.
Reva was a very devoted wife and mother. God gifted Reva with the grit and the grace that would enable her to raise 5 boys and 4 girls. As you can imagine, she was very busy with Alan, Jody, Mike, Robin, Terry, Colleen, Lisa, Nicky, and Debbie, yet she still found room for others. Reva was very active in her church and volunteered to cook and help take care of the sick and the elderly. Reva was always a doer. She had a large garden, raised animals, canned, crocheted, and quilted as well.
Cliff passed away in 1983, and Reva immediately turned to the members of Lakeview Christian Church and began cleaning houses to provide for her family. She was well respected and gained new clients through glowing referrals. She loved that her work allowed her to help many families who she then happily considered her own. Everyone called her Granny. She enjoyed the business she built and continued to work until she retired in 2018 at age 83.
Reva continued to dance, making wonderful friends in round-dancing groups all over the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. She often danced both roles as needed and enjoyed it when she had the chance to teach. She began to travel more, visiting family and going on cruises. She was also known for her green thumb. Her beautiful yard bloomed with bright colors and made her happy as she watched the hummingbirds and butterflies.
Reva is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Monroe Brasuell, Jr. and son, Jody
Wayne Brasuell. Reva is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters in law, 4 daughters and 2 sons in law, 19 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren.
She is so loved and will be greatly missed by all!
