Richard H. Skidmore, 94, of New Braunfels Texas passed away on June 12, 2026 at his residence surrounded by family who loved him dearly. He was born to Herbert Byron Skidmore and Florence Saucedo Skidmore in San Diego, Texas on August 15, 1931.
Richard was a dedicated servant to his country and community who actively shaped the world around him through his professional dedication, civic involvements, and personal passions. For 36 years, he was a familiar and trusted face in the community as the manager of Lack’s Furniture Store in Alice, Texas. Alongside his career, he left behind a rich legacy of public service, having served as a former school board member for the San Diego ISD and as an engaged member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rotary Club, and the Mutualista Society. Richard balanced his hard work and civic duties with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and friendly competition. His favorite days were spent cattle ranching, hunting, fishing, and arrowhead hunting, while his evenings and weekends were often filled with the excitement of gambling or a classic game of dominoes with friends at Rio Terra, where he resided.
