

On July 30, 2024, our beloved Robert “Bobby” Ray Cowan, passed from this life at the age of 76.
Bobby was born to Cecil and Joyce “Yvonne” Cowan on June 27, 1948 in San Marcos, TX. Bobby was raised in San Marcos, Texas with his 4 siblings. He graduated high school as a San Marcos Rattler and enlisted in the U.S. Army. During the Vietnam War, Bobby worked as a helicopter technician and was awarded with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), and Expert Badges in the Rifle and Pistol .45 Cal.
Bobby was married to Janie June Schlicting Cowan in 1970 and moved to New Braunfels, Texas to raise their 5 children on the family farm. Bobby had a long career working at Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc. and since retirement, has enjoyed working the land, passing down the love and tradition for working with animals to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bobby is survived by his wife, married for 54 years, Janie Cowan. He is also survived by his children, son Matthew Cowan, daughter June Worthey and husband Michael, son Nathan Cowan and wife Kristal, son Samuel Cowan and wife Norma, and daughter Elizabeth Bolden and husband Joshua. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Cecli Wayne Cowan and wife, Gayna, sister, Patricia “Jeanie” Lackey, and sister-in-law Patricia Cowan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Yvonne Cowan, brother, Michael Cowan, and sister, Joyce Cowan.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial service on Saturday, August 10 at 11:00 at Westover Baptist Church located at 1310 Advance Street, San Marcos, Texas.
