Robert “Bob” Leeton, 87, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend to many. Born on September 4, 1937, in Colton, California, Bob lived a life full of love, laughter, purpose, and adventure.
Bob dedicated 34 years of service to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, where he served as a Deputy, Homicide Detective, and Sergeant. He also led the Search and Rescue Team in Twin Peaks, California, demonstrating a deep commitment to helping others. In his early years, he served as a reserve in the United States Air Force.
After retiring from law enforcement, Bob embraced his love for exploration and became a travel agent, organizing unforgettable trips around the world. His meticulous planning and extensive knowledge quickly made him the go-to expert for friends and family alike.
When he wasn’t traveling with his wife, LaVonne, and their friends, Bob remained active in his community. He served as president of the International Police Association (IPA) Chapter #44 for several years and was also a founding member and president of the Inland Empire Scottish Society—roles he took great pride in. Bob was always on the move, and he relished every moment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Wanda, his brother Ron, and his nephew Eric.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, LaVonne; his daughters, Denise and her husband Derek Fennell, Shannon and her husband Chris Rankin; and his cherished grandchildren: Laura Fennell, Jake Rankin and his wife Sydney, and Trevor Rankin and his wife Malia.
A graveside service will be held at Hill Country Memorial Garden Cemetery on June 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at the Rio Terra Senior Living Clubhouse.
In honor of Bob’s deep love for animals, the family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local animal shelter.
