A native of New Braunfels, Texas and a resident of Seguin, Texas born in San Marcos, Texas on January 30, 1934 to the late Waymon and Doris Millett, departed this life for eternal rest on December 26, 2024 at the tender age of 90. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Joyce McBride Millett; sisters: Bertha Millett, Dorothy Burleson, Barbara Jean Millett, Gloria Clark, Ida Dean, Gwendolyn Chamberlain and Delores Millett and one brother, Ulysses Millett.
Robert was the second oldest of seventeen children. At an early age, Robert helped his dad run the Millett Salvage Yard business on Comal Street. He was known as the best bartender at the New Braunfels Elks Lodge before becoming the owner of High Sierra Port-o-let Company. He was a member and Deacon at Temple Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas and a member of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce. He served in the Texas Army Reserve.
Robert’s home was always filled with love, wisdom and laughter. It was his humor and laughter that brought a smile to everyone’s face. Although he did not have the opportunity to graduate from high school, he obtained his GED. He understood the importance of an education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams. Robert’s faith in God and willingness to share his love touched and encouraged not only his family, but all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memories, his loving wife, Cynthia Thomas Millett; four sons: John (Renaye) Owens, of Cibolo, Texas, Gregory Millett of McAllen, Texas, Dr. Nathan Millett of Kyle, Texas, and Robert (Nolia) of New Braunfels, Texas; three daughters, Charlesetta (Clarence) Ball of Mobile, Alabama, Sheila Millett of San Antonio, Texas and Sylvia Millett of Houston, Texas; seven sisters: Dinah Carson, Patricia Millett, Frankie Linda Millett, Hughella Kelley, Kathy Dyer, Sandra Kaye Millett, Beverly Millett, and Mary Millett; nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
