It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rogelio “Roger” Costillo Reyes announces his passing, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the age of 83 years. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Benigna and his children, Roger (Rita), Oscar (Diana), Deborah (Robin), and Delia. Roger will also be affectionately remembered by his nine grandchildren, Catrina, Roxanne, Cavanaugh, Danielle, Stephani, Sonja, Graciela, Oscar, and Salome, and by his seven great-grandchildren. He will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Arnulfo and Maria Reyes, and his siblings, Tomas, Mary, Cleo, Clyde, Claudio and Dora. He is survived by his sister, Celestina.
Roger was born February 9, 1935 in New Braunfels, Texas. He lost both of his parents as a young child and spent his youth working as a farm laborer. He served 23 years in the United States Air Force as Technical Sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he completed two tours in Vietnam. With his hard-work and determination, he created a home for his family with his wife Benigna in New Braunfels, where he spent his final days surrounded by family. Roger had an invincible sense of humor. His children and grandchildren will remember him as a storyteller and the owner of the best smile in Texas.
A Funeral Service in memory of Roger will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa Street, New Braunfels, Texas. Interment will follow at 1:45 p.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas.
