Ron was born in Long Beach California on December 11, 1944, graduated from Shafter High School, attended Bakersfield Junior College, and later Fresno Pacific University. He worked in the Telecom Industry for almost 45 years beginning with PacBell and later AT&T, Contel, and GTE. He was a Central Office Manager at San Marcos Telephone Company prior to the purchase by CenturyTel. He later worked for several start-up companies and eventually retired again from AT&T as a Project Manager for the Wi-Fi division. But he always considered himself just a regular “CO guy”.
Ron was a man who loved sports. He played football, soccer, golf, racket ball, softball, and enjoyed fishing and water skiing. However, basketball (“round ball” as he called it) was the game he loved most. He also enjoyed music and playing his guitar. His favorite hobby was working on cars so he spent much of his spare time puttering in his garage.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Nathan Cleo Adams, mother Maurine Adams, brothers Larry and Dorman Adams. He is survived by his wife Mary Susan Adams, son Jeff Adams (Craig), daughter Rhonda Guerra (Orlando), and step daughter Jennifer Jones, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He will be missed every day, but has left us with the comfort of wonderful memories depicting the kind, loving, supportive man he was. He deserves to be in paradise.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas. Reception to follow at Adams Residence.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
