

Growing up in the small country town of Levelland, Texas, Ron was known to family and friends as “Ronnie”! He was very talented at a young age…playing the guitar at age 13 that he ordered from Sears and Roebuck. He also followed his mothers’ footsteps n her love for painting with oils.
Ron was also gifted with a beautiful voice and later on in life was nick named “Ronnie Cash” by family. Besides his passion for music, Ron loved football. He played football for Levelland High School and went on to secure a 4 year “Full Ride” football scholarship at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. Ron played varsity offense and defense for the Greyhounds under beloved coach Carl Richardson. Ron graduated from ENMU with a Business/Agriculture degree and was immediately hired by John Deere and Company. The Dallas based home office hired Ron as their Territory Business Manager for Dallas, El Paso, and Brownsville Texas. Throughout his career Ron received many outstanding achievement awards which afforded him the opportunities to travel the world with John Deere. While employed with John Deere Ron was also employed with Uncle Sam and served in the Texas National Guard. Ron loved flying! He earned his “pilots” license and flew his Cessna plane over Texas and New Mexico for John Deere as well as flying for his personal pleasure.
After retiring from John Deere, Ron went on to acquire his Real Estate license as well as his Life/Auto Insurance and Securities Licenses. He was employed by Texas Farm Bureau and Oregon Farm Bureau Insurance companies for 9 years.
Ron’s passion for playing golf with family and friends was just as strong as his passion for playing music. He has recorded “7” witnessed hole in ones from Dallas, El Paso, Sweetwater, Amarillo and Oregon! Ron was a very special once in a lifetime person with a beautiful soul, who like his father “never met a stranger”.
He will be heartfully missed by many and forever loved and remembered through his music and his many endeavors in life.
Ron leaves behind his wife Therese Baggett of New Braunfels; his sister Nanci Baggett Smith and husband Robert of Austin; his 2 sons, David Bagget of Austin and Brian Baggett and wife Jaime of Huntington Beach, CA; also 3 grandchildren, Keane, Beaux and Waylen; and beloved cousin Linda Vetters of San Marcos.
