Roy Wesley Hargrove

He was a loving husband, father, and Papa and his life revolved around all those that he loved. His daughters, Robin and Shannon grew up with him playing them songs on the guitar and taking them on frequent trips to the Houston Zoo. Yearly adventures included trips to Colorado to camp in the summer and ski in the winter.

After a long career with the United States Postal Service, Roy, at the age of 47, returned to college to fulfil his lifelong dream of teaching high school. In New Braunfels, he taught at Smithson Valley High School for 18 years, collecting T-shirts from students visiting various colleges, each with its own story he remembered fondly.

He was an amazing teacher and passionate supporter of the Smithson Valley Rangers. Family and friends enjoyed going to many of their activities including sporting events, plays and graduations. A true renaissance man, Roy's love for books, music, and movies shone through in his conversations and writing. He enjoyed sharing his passion for movies through years of writing movie reviews for his website, "Roy’s Reel World."

Roy and his wife Frances shared a long, gracious life filled with flawless memories. After retiring they enjoyed traveling to Europe including trips to Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy. Paris was one of his favorite places where he loved to sit in sidewalk cafes and meet new people. His kindness inspired many and is still remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Hargrove, daughters Robin Hargrove of New Braunfels; Shannon Dutton and her husband Dee Dutton of Fort Worth; Grandson Wesley Dutton of Fort Worth; brother Ben Hargrove and his wife Rhonda Hargrove of Clear Lake; and many other nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation at Zoeller Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 am, New Tabor Brethren Church, Caldwell, Texas.
