Roy C. Thiele of New Braunfels went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born in Thrall, Texas on July 1, 1941 to Lena and Edwin Thiele. Roy married Virgina Kaderli on July 14, 1962.
Roy is survived by daughters Colette Nanez (Roland), Glynda Findley (Kenneth), Brenda Thiele; and grandchildren Bridgette Findley, Timothy Parsons (Sadie), and Beau Findley (Addison); great-grandchild Myla Sage Parsons. Roy is also survived by two sisters Allyne Harris (Billy), and Carolyn Thiele.
He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Kaderli Thiele, parents Lena and Edwin Thiele, and sister Patsy Jones.
Roy attended Texas State Teachers College and then moved to New Braunfels when he and Virginia were married. He was employed at Mission Valley Mills in New Braunfels. West Point Pepperell eventually bought Mission Valley Mills and that is where Roy worked until his retirement. Roy loved working in the textile business, and was involved in all aspects of the operations.
Roy was very active in Little League baseball and umpired many games in the evenings and during the weekends. He also enjoyed 9-pin bowling and was involved in the Freiheit Bowling Club for many years.
Roy absolutely loved going to Whataburger every morning to visit with friends. And the highlight of his weekends was going to garage sales with family and friends whenever possible. There are many memories that surround seeking out the best bargains and the competitions that existed throughout the years. Those are the times the family misses the most!
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to each and every care giver at New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care of Schertz, and Freedom Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freedom Hospice, 10001 Reunion Pl Ste 101, San Antonio, Tx 78216.
