On Friday, November 15, 2013 Russell Dwight Roper was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ! Waiting for him there was his loving wife of 45 years, Patsy Roper, his parents, Russell and Ruth Roper, brother, Joe Roper and sisters, Darlene Richardson and Harriet Pope, as well as other family and friends who have gone before
He will be greatly missed by his son R.J. Roper, his grandsons, Skyler and Zion Roper, all of New Braunfels as well as his sisters, Sue Ahrens of Corpus Christi, and Ruth Ann (Earl) Patrick of Arlington, Texas. His numerous nieces and nephews will also miss their “Uncle Bubba”.
I’m sure dad had an awesome time this morning talking with Jesus and all his old oilfield buddies at heaven’s “Dairy Queen”!
Russell accepted Jesus into his heart at an early age at the Calallen Baptist Church in Corpus Christi. He became an ordained deacon in 1975 at Windsor Park Baptist Church in Corpus Christi. He and Patsy were active in various churches throughout their lives. At the time of his passing, Russell was a member of the Oakwood Church in New Braunfels.
A public visitation for Russell will take place Tuesday, November 19, 2013 between 6 and 8 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. His funeral service will be Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home with interment to follow at Cranes Mill Cemetery in Canyon Lake, Texas.
