Ann grew up in Houston and was a member of the Garden Villas Baptist Church and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. In 1955 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life George Pyland. In addition to raising their three daughters, she was a devoted church member and a school volunteer.
Ann was a dedicated wife and mother, first and foremost. She especially loved her role as “Meme.” For their 50th wedding anniversary, she and George celebrated in Hawaii, accompanied by fourteen children and grandchildren. In her free time, Ann was always an avid reader.
With her unwavering faith in God, her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
For a little while, we will all suffer loss, but someday soon, there will be a great reunion in Heaven.
She is survived by her husband, George Pyland, her daughters Diann LaCagnina and her husband David, Susan Rast and her husband Mike, and Lisa Childs and her husband, Matt and her brother Travis “Bubby” Drake. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mitchell, Kyle, Travis, Justin, Kathleen, Lauren, Trevor and Jordan. She had one great-grandson, James.
