He was a wonderful brother, father and a friend to all. Tom was born March 22, 1954 to Jim and Payne Gibbs in Lubbock, Texas. He was a designer of pools and was a true artist. Tom was one of the nicest people you will ever meet and was loved by his family and his friends.
No man lives free of duality. Tom was like a jagged rock in the rapids of the Guadalupe, standing strong against the constant crashing waves in the river of life. But like all things that stand against the slow persistence of water, over time the rock becomes worn and is eventually consumed by the river. Such is the fate of a rock in the great rapids. The duality is that Tom was also like the river itself. Working endlessly to smooth all jagged stones that might keep others from safe passage and providing life without asking in return until it is all used up. Such is the fate of water. We are not mad at you Tom, we understand and forgive you. May you know the peace in death that you searched for in life.
Preceding him in death was his wife Shannon. He is survived by his daughter Heather Williams; son Jesse Gibbs; sisters, Phyllis Schwartz and Sandra Horne; grandchildren Jay Thomas Gibbs, Xavier Gibbs and Miah Williams.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home.
