Valerie Christon was welcomed into the heavenly kingdom on September 13, 2026. She passed away unexpectedly at her home in New Braunfels, Texas. Valerie was born on November 22, 1959, to Richard Christon and Leona (Christon) MacLeod. She was preceded in death by her parents and uncle, Gilbert Chichester. She is survived by her children Zach Odom and Caitlin Andima, their partners Sandra Maldonado and Bernard Andima, and her three grandchildren Ben, Eleanor, and Gerrard; her stepfather Bruce MacLeod, her aunt Elizabeth Chichester, her siblings Cindy Howard, RD Christon, and Trina Smith, their partners, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In life, there was nothing Val cherished more than her family. Spending time working on her latest art project, with all of her kids and grandkids around the table were her favorite moments. She was always creating, from her grand, swirling mosaics that can still be found around Gruene, to resin art, to painting the furniture simply so there was more color in the world. This creativity carried into her work at Hobby Lobby, where she worked in the frame shop and was beloved by customers for over a decade. She was always generous, giving what she had to help others who were more down on their luck than she was. Even in her hardest moments, she was more concerned about her loved ones and neighbors than she was about herself. Her kindness and love will be missed dearly by the countless people whose lives she touched throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, September 19, 2026. It will be held at Gruene United Methodist Church in the Missions and Outreach Building, 2629 E Common St, New Braunfels, TX 78130. A come and go reception will follow at the same location from 11am-12pm.
