

Wanda Wright Pullin Henk was born in a small farm house outside of Wortham, Texas on a warm evening August 15, 1939. She loved to keep and clean house as well help her family on the farm. She grew up in and around Tehuacana, Texas, attended school there through the 8th grade then went to the big city of Mexia where she graduated from in 1957. She married Ed Pullin at age 16 in Tehuacana Baptist Church.
They moved to Lawton, Oklahoma and in 1959, their first child Bob was born and Ed was drafted into the Army. Shortly after Ed’s deployment, Wanda returned to Mexia. When Ed came home they returned to Hugo, Oklahoma where their daughter Valaree was born. In 1963, the family moved to Refugio following her husband’s job. In 1965, they then moved to New Braunfels and loved the town and the people. She worked at different jobs helping out with the family income. In 1973, she went to work at Motorola and loved her job and the many friends she met. She retired from Motorola after 25 years of service.
She loved yard work, cooking for her children, and taking care of others throughout her life. In 1992, after 36 years of marriage, she lost her first husband, Ed, to cancer.
In the years that followed, she enjoyed her grandchildren, spending time with friends and dancing at Frieheit Country Store, where she met her second husband, Leonard Henk a local farmer/rancher. They were married June 15, 2002.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edna Sterling and J. A. Wright and step-father, William Sterling and sister Maxine Dempsey. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Henk, son, Bob Pullin and wife, Cindy, daughter, Valaree Marbach and husband, Kelly; Step-children Gary Henk and wife Carrie, Audie Henk, and Jody Henk and wife Mindy. Grandsons, Kyle and Kirk Pullin and granddaughter, Cassondra Washburn (Marbach) and husband Dustin, great-grandson, Preston Pullin. Step-grandchildren Audie Rae, Gunnar, and Kambrie Henk and step-great grandson Evan Murphy. She is also survived by siblings Charles Wright and wife Sarah, Mary Pace, Bob Wright and wife Sandra, Kay Young, Jody Sterling and wife Pattye, and Bill Sterling. She will be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Wonie.
Public visitation will begin 6:00 PM Monday at Zoeller Funeral Home and continue until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Zoeller Funeral home with internment to follow at Comal Cemetery. At her request, there will be a celebration of her life immediately following the internment at Frieheit Country Store.
