Our prayers and support to the Davenport family.  We wish we could be there and send our love to everyone.

Uncle Will was a role model to so many, caring and kind.  When asked for advice, he was always able to relate a verse or biblical basis in a way that didn't feel like he was teaching.    

Trips to Juarez and the old lease near Hueco tanks with Will are treasured memories.  He will always be the tallest man we know.


My memories  of my brother in law are too numerous to name. Ever since I was a little child I looked up to my sister Oleta and Will as more of a parent figure in many ways.  Our family as a whole found their home as a place of safety from the storms of life that we all encounter at times.  
We knew that when we needed prayer who was the first one to call and that was Will.  His head was bowed in prayer before the Lord as soon as the request was made known to him.
We witnessed many miracles because of his faith in going to the Lord on our behalf.  His presence in our life is already felt.  I know he heard a beautiful voice say yo him the minute his spirit departed from his body,  Well DONE thou good and faithful servant enter into thy rest. 
Enjoy His presence and goodness forever now  Will.  We will meet again.    The work you have done will roll forward  bringing a great harvest. We will miss you. 

Our hearts go out to the Davenport family as we say goodbye for now to the patriarch of the Davenport family.  The love of God shined through his eyes! He was a wonderful man of God, Husband, father, grandfather & uncle. 

I’m certain he has a very special place in heaven rejoicing with the Lord. He will be sorely missed by all. 

He held a very special place in our family and always will. Some of my favorite childhood memories were when we took trips to visit Uncle   Will & Aunt Oleta. They always made us feel very loved and welcomed.

Davenport family, sending prayers of comfort and support to all of you during this time of grief. I wish I could be there for the memorial to say goodbye to Uncle Will. He was a very blessed man to have you all for his family and I know he loved you all with all his heart! I remember how he looked at Oleta with so much adoration and love. I heard one time how he knew the moment he saw her he wanted to marry her. Very few people get to experience that and then share their entire lives together .  Til we meet again, Love Viki Hakes

I remember Uncle Will as being a kind & gentle man who loved the Lord & his family. He spoke at my daddy’s graveside service & spoke of the faith & honor that my daddy lived by. They were very comforting words to me at a very difficult time in my life. I will miss him greatly, but I know he is with the Lord. And I also know there could be no greater place to be than in Heaven. Love you Uncle Will & family.

When I was young boy we would go visit Uncle Will and family every year. He was always so inviting and involved with our visits. We would go to Juarez and go shopping  and sometimes we would go to the  white sands to admire the dunes and play on them.  It was always so much fun there. He was one of my dad Gail Hakes favorite persons. He was a good uncle and I look forward to seeing him again someday in the eternal life.

Love  and deepest prayers for comfort to the Davenport clan.  Will influenced me to  follow Christ from my earliest recollections.  He exhibited the joys of welcoming a large brood, but never hid the vulnerability to pain that loving so many brings.  He made it clear that manliness did not exclude tenderness in the service of  King Jesus. And most,   he told a true testimony of God, the bridegroom’s faithfulness to His bride, the church by his dedicated love for his own bride, Lee.  He was superior in making everyone feel they were his favorite.  Comfort your dear mother as he would.
