William (“Bill”) Cabell Alexander passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the age of 73, after a period of declining health. Born in Bluefield, WV, December 31, 1947, he is a son of the late Colonel (Ret., USAF) Charles P. and Margaret (Smith) Alexander.
A graduate of John Marshall High School, San Antonio, TX, class of 1966, Bill was a long-time resident of Austin. Bill's career spanned a number of fields, but the job he enjoyed the most was as a paralegal. He loved the challenge of the research and satisfaction of helping others. In retirement, he served on the board of his Residents Association for a number of years, including two terms as its President. Bill’s dedication to doing the right thing and promoting the welfare of his fellow residents earned him high praise.
Bill loved animals, and was always taking in whatever creature showed up at his door. He could never say no to a stray and his tender heart always made room for one more.
Bill was a loving father, steadfast brother, and devoted uncle. In spite of many serious health issues over more than 20 years, Bill remained upbeat, looking forward to what the next day would bring. Witty and self-deprecating, he charmed everyone who knew him.

Alexander and his wife Edwyna; his sister, Margaret S. Alexander and her husband John R. Sadd; his sister-in-law, Virginia C. Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.
