On August 4, 2011, William Edward “Billy” Deiker ended his long and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 49 years old. Billy is preceded in death by his father, William Henry Deiker, of Seguin.
He is survived by his mother, Millie Deiker, of Seguin; his son, Chris Deiker, of Dallas; Great Aunt, Ida Koll, of Seguin; sisters Kathy Roberts (and husband Claude) of San Antonio, Susan Lange of Seattle, WA, and Barbara Marques (and husband Darrell) of Cibolo; seven nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Amy Smith (and her children, Caleb and Ryan) of New Braunfels.
Billy was born September 5, 1961 in Bloomingdale, IL. He graduated from Seguin High School, then attended Texas A&M University as an Electrical Engineering major. He worked as a Database Analyst and Administrator for Motorola in Seguin, Texas, which later became Continental Automotive. Billy was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, where he played guitar for the contemporary service band. He enjoyed his participation in his Sunday School class, served as head of the congregation and President of the Church Council. Billy was an avid fisherman, a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, and loved to play his guitar. He was a passionate supporter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Comal County. His team, CASTING FOR THE CURE, helped raise money for cancer research and survivor support. Billy was best defined by his loving and compassionate spirit. We will always remember his generous smile, his empathy for those alone or less fortunate, and for his endless love for his family and friends. He will be missed beyond measure. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Alexander Zweibach and the staff at Cancer Care Center in New Braunfels for their continuous, loving care; Pastor Gary Lange and the congregation of Peace Lutheran Church for their outpouring of love and encouragement; his many friends who supported him through his battle; the doctors and nurses at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels; and the nurses at Vista Care Hospice who lovingly eased Billy to his eternal life.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Zoeller Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church, 1147 S. Walnut Ave. Services will conclude at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to either Peace Lutheran Church of New Braunfels, or the AMC (American Cancer Society) Relay for Life of Comal County: TEAM CASTING FOR THE CURE.
