William James Gardner

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Delno and Rae, and his twin sisters, Wendy and Mitzi.

Bill is survived by his wife Barbara of 58 years, children Steve, Vicki (Beaman), Bill, Bob and their spouses as well as his only remaining sister Cheryl Wolfe. He is also survived by many grandchildren including Elizabeth Gardner Ruth and spouse Kelly, Thomas Gardner, Paul Beaman, Will Gardner and Calie Gardner. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

Bill was born in Long Beach California on July 8, 1933. He spent his youth and teen years in Toledo Ohio. Bill served proudly in the United States Air Force as a B-29 gunner from 1950 - 1954. After an honorable discharge, Bill was hired by IBM. Bill started with IBM in Denver, Colorado and had many exciting, challenging and rewarding experiences taking him and the family across the country. Bill’s final assigment with IBM was as the Branch Manger for Customer Service in the IBM San Antonio office. Bill retired after 30 years of successful service.

After retirement Bill and Barbara enjoyed many adventures in business and leisure. In 1996, Bill and Barbara realized their retirement dream and moved to New Braunfels. Bill enjoyed many years of golf and made many close friends. Both Bill and Barbara also enjoyed and volunteered in the very active local German community. Bill was also a student of history and participated in the local Conservation Society.

Funeral services will be at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels on Friday, July 6 , 2012 at 10:00 AM. Bill will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio, Texas. Memorial donations may be made to the New Braunfels Conservaton Society 1300 Church Hill Drive, New Braunfels, TX 78130 or the charity of your choice.
