Ymelda D. Benavides, “Melly”, was born to Martin and Rebecca C. Delgado on January 6, 1949 in New Braunfels, Texas. She attended Lone Star Elementary and New Braunfels High School.
In 1967 she met the love of her life, her “muñeco”, Robert G. Benavides and married him in 1968. During their 56 years of marriage, she devoted her life to her home and raising her children. She enjoyed cooking and having friends over for coffee and fellowship. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, extended family, and friends. Most of all, she devoted her life to her Christian faith. God blessed Ymelda with an angelic voice and sang at various places of worship. It was of no surprise that her sons shared her musical talent. They started a Christian music band, La Familia Benavides.
A true servant of God, Ymelda was an example of a women driven by her purpose and faith. She always made friends with anyone she met and never hesitated to pray for family, friends, and even strangers. She truly showed others what it was like to love like Jesus. Ymelda could light up a room with her witty and humorous nature always making people laugh. And boy did she love food! She was ready to go anywhere and anytime food was involved. There was never a dull moment when you were around her. Her smile and laughter lit up the room.
Ymelda’s faith remained unshakeable even in her final moments. She worshipped Jesus to the very end. She will always be remembered for her full devotion to Jesus Christ.
The family thanks all the medical staff and Walmart pharmaceutical team who cared for Ymelda.
