Agatha 'Olga' Panzarella

Agatha “Olga” Guardi Panzarella, 82, of Berlin, widow of Michael Panzarella, passed away March 28th. Born in Palermo, Italy in 1928 to the late Giuseppe and Marie Guardi, she later moved to New York City. One of five daughters; predeceased by infant sister Agatha Guardi, Josephine Guardi, and Mary, wife of deceased Michael Alba and sons, Joey and Angelo. She is survived by Delores, wife of deceased Robert DeLorenzo of Yonkers, New York. Olga was also predeceased by in-laws; Mariano and Antonina Panzarella.

Olga and her beloved husband Michael owned and operated Kensington Provision, an Italian deli, for over twenty years. She belonged to St. Paul’s Church in Kensington and was a member of Ladies Guild, as well as an active member of the Berlin Senior Center. Olga devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother who always had a smile on her face.

Olga is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law Nina and Ron Mortensen of Kensington; daughter Mary Ann and son-in-law Kerry Spenser of Berlin; son Michael Panzarella and fiancée Denise Linger of Berlin. She leaves five grandchildren; Katie and husband Bob Dirga of Hawaii; Sara and Ryan Hannifan of New Britain; Elyse Mortensen and fiancé Adam Renfrew of Madison; Jill and Jeffery Spencer of Berlin; also leaves brother-in-law Joseph Panzarella and wife Mimi of White Plains, New York; sister-in-law Rose Patti of East Hartford, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to sincerely thank the dedicated staff of Ridgeview Health Care Center in Cromwell, where Olga resided for the last seven years. She will truly be missed by her many friends there.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Olga’s life on Saturday, April 16th, 2011 at St. Paul’s Church in Kensington at 10a.m. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain.
