Agnes Sarah Pucci

Agnes “Babe” Pucci, 96, of New Britain, passed away on March 5, 2017 at home after a long illness. She was born on May 7, 1920 in New Britain to the late John and Anna (Botticelli) Spitzel of New Britain and was the widow of the late Raymond Pucci to whom she was married for 61 years. Agnes was a lifelong New Britain resident and attended local schools. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she was employed as a bookkeeper working for many years at Wellin’s Auto Parts. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church.

Known to her family and friends by her nickname, Babe, Agnes enjoyed visiting with family, her cruises and other vacations with friends, and watching UConn women’s basketball as well as weekend dinners and dancing with her beloved husband. She will also be remembered for hosting many happy holiday gatherings for family at her home.

Agnes leaves her son, Michael Pucci and his wife, Tammie, of Kensington and her daughter Lisa Smigel and her husband, John, of East Lyme, and two grandchildren, Lauren Pucci of Kensington and Allison Pucci of Middletown and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Anthony, John, and William Spitzel. Agnes’ family would like to offer special thanks to her niece and home care provider, Kim Spizuoco, and her staff for the loving care during the last years of her life and to Hospice of Central Connecticut for providing comfort in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Ann Church in New Britain. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 9:00 AM at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church, North St. New Britain. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
